Project Girasols is inviting teachers all over the country, and all over the world to get kids out into the garden! Watch other teachers present the lessons on Ted ED and share with classes and families. We can grow a better world by teaching from Nature - better health for kids, hands on easier learning and more sustainable communities. Project Girasols will transform your schoolyard into a living learning laboratory which will also produce food.
There are four standards based and IB ready lessons that come along with the package. Social Studies, Science, Math, and Literature. Each one of these can be seen online and are also available as a package, which includes the lesson plans, handouts, seeds and a children's book about Girasols!
Check out our lessons and flip the lesson to make your own interactive test questions!
Available in June 2013.
Project Girasols gives you hands-on, Nature-based lessons while promoting sustainability. After each lesson, students can plant their own seeds into the garden. Interacting in a hands-on way brings magic into learning, and reconnects kids with the Earth. Healthy food comes from the garden!
We are currently working with the International School at Mesa del Sol, have worked with Reginald Chavez Elementary and are seeking new partnership in the Albuquerque area. We have built community and educational gardens working with government and educators in NY and NM..
